One of LN9's respected local historians, Robert L. H. Bell, has produced an important historical document entitled Horncastle Livestock Market.

This fascinating work spans approximately 30 pages and is divided into eight chapters for easy viewing. Each chapter explores the history, locations, and significance of Horncastle's livestock market and its role in the development of Horncastle and the wider LN9 area.

Why this history matters
There have been many histories written about the market town of Horncastle, but one of the most significant omissions has been the story of the livestock market. Robert Bell's work seeks to put that right.

For many local people, the generation now passing will be the last to remember first-hand the location, atmosphere, and role played by the livestock market in the life of the town. This series helps preserve those memories and recognises the market's importance to the growth of Horncastle and the surrounding LN9 communities over the centuries.
Share your own LN9 history
If you have photographs, memories, documents or other historic information relating to Horncastle, the livestock market or the wider LN9 area, please consider sharing them. Every contribution helps preserve the rich heritage of the LN9 area for future generations.

You can contact Robert Bell directly or get in touch with the Horncastle History & Heritage Society (HHHS) if you would like to contribute material, memories or historical research.
